Duane has successfully completed the University of Maryland Center for the Professional Development's Appraiser Core Courses as set forth by the International Society of Appraisers. He holds a B.A. in history from Illinois College and continues to develop professionally through research, seminars and lectures. In addition to being a member of the Grand Haven Chamber of Commerce, he is also a long-time member of the Tri-Cities Historical Society where he served on the Board of Directors. In 2006 he was the recipient of the Tri-Cities Museum's Historian of the Year Award. He currently serves on the Museum's Collection Committee, and is a consultant to the Museum in the area of Victorian Decorative Arts. He served six years on the City of Grand Haven's Historic Conservation District Commission where he held the positions of Secretary and Chair. Duane has had a life-long interest in antiques and has extensively studied them for over 40 years.
