In 1939, under the direction of Louis Kunkel, the Melrose Catholic Parish Credit Union was organized to provide low-cost loans to people in St. Boniface and St. Patrick parishes. In 2001 the Melrose Credit Union became a federally chartered credit union and the name was officially changed to better reflect the membership to 'Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union', as it is today. The credit union s products and services include checking accounts, individual retirement accounts, a loan center, money market accounts, rates, certificates and savings accounts. Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union is headquartered in Melrose, Minn. The company also has offices in Albany, Grey Eagle, Freeport, Paynesville, Sauk Centre, St. Joseph and Cold Spring, Minn.
