Alliance Bank was chartered in 1927 under the name Sulphur Springs State Bank. Over the subsequent decades, the bank strengthened its holdings through several acquisitions of banks in Ridgeway, Cumby, Brashear and Pickton, Texas. The Greenville, Texas, branch was added in 1984, while the Commerce and Wolfe City, Texas, branches opened in 1990. Five years later, Sulphur Springs State Bank and Colonial Bank of Greenville merged, and the resulting company s name was changed to Alliance Bank. With $400 million in assets, the bank s main office remains in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
